We’re privileged enough to see numerous examples of the world’s most luxurious watches here at Time 4 Diamonds, but once in a while we have the chance to see something extra-special and this superb Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar (26574OR.OO.1220OR.02) in Rose Gold is one of them!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual CalendarFirst introduced in 1978, the Perpetual Calendar version of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has become collector’s sub-genre in its own right. Designed and produced in the midst of the so called ‘Quartz Crisis’, the Perpetual Calendar was the world’s thinnest, self-winding  wristwatch and generously contributed to the establishment of the Royal Oak line in the consciousness of aficionados. A by-no-means inconsiderable technical feat, the case housed a groundbreaking razor-thin 2120 calibre movement with an added perpetual calendar module, which is still the mainstay of AP watch making today. The movement is often celebrated for combining a forward-thinking design with one of its most celebrated complications.

Our stunning example of the Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar model is a 26574 in rose gold. Compared to other examples of the Perpetual Calendar (the classical form being the 25820), the 26574 has an enlarged case, upped from 39mm to 41mm. This has allowed space for the dial to feature a model-first week-of-the-year register, indicated by an extra hand. As with many other 41mm Royal Oak models, the watch features the trademark Audemars Piguet ‘Grande Tapisserie’ dial. Rather than use an existing movement, the 41mm Perpetual Calendar features a brand new 5134 calibre movement, based on the aforementioned famous 2120.

What makes this (and indeed all) Perpetual Calendar models special, is the astonishing level of detail paid to the case and bracelet finishing. The sharp, chic angles of the Royal Oak case contribute to the brand’s continuing success. Whilst a minority might prefer a more traditional and simpler 39mm case, the up-sizing of this 41mm version makes complete sense and sits comfortably and securely on most wrists. The sapphire-bound, laser-etched moon dial simply screams quality, whilst the sumptuous blue dial offsets the rose-gold perfectly.

The most important thing? This superb example of craftsmanship can be yours for £64,995. If you’d like any more information on this fantastic piece, other Audemars Piguet or Royal Oak models, or other luxury watch brands, then call Time 4 Diamonds today on 020 3893 2331.
